“Fragments” is constructed from discarded cardboard boxes once used for moving between apartments—collected from the streets and inscribed with drawn details of International and Eclectic-style buildings. Some of these buildings have been preserved and turned into luxury apartments; others remain abandoned.
The work responds to ongoing urban shifts—destruction, construction, displacement, and gentrification. These transformations form the lens through which I examine the city. The recurring image of the crane, monumental in form and now illuminated by LED lights, emerges as a symbol of perpetual change—an emblem of the city’s evolving skyline and relentless tempo.
Held together with used cardboard, cheap tape, and mounted on a construction plank, the piece is intentionally fragile—ephemeral and bound to decay.
“Fragments” was first exhibited at Beit Tami in Tel Aviv, curated by Carmit Blumensohn, and later reimagined for an exhibition at Haifa University in collaboration with the Arts and Museum Studies program.
